Secret #1 – Free Calls
Customers of Sprint in the US and Everything Everywhere (EE) in the UK are in for a treat here as iOS 8.3 adds support for the so called ‘WiFi calls’. As the name suggests, this means normal cellular phone calls can be placed over any wireless network to which you are connected – this is wonderful option if you are living in a place with weak phone signal.
But here is the best: calls over WiFi do not count the minutes in your plan. They can also be used abroad to avoid roaming fees.
The setup is simple:
- Go to setting -> Phone -> Wi-Fi calls
- Just select Wi-Fi calls
Secret #2 – The Spock Emoji (unlocking method)
This is for the emoji lovers, iOS 8.3 is bringing a lot new features but this definitely will put a smile to your face. (eastern eggs, vulcan salute)
The setup:
- Copy the emoji from this tweet on your iPhone or iPad.
- Head over to the Settings menu on your device.
- Click General, followed by Keyboards, and select Shortcuts.
- Tap the + icon.
- Double tap on the Phrase section and paste the Vulcan emoji you copied earlier.
- Enter a shortcut you would like to use
- And just tap Save
After all the work done you should be able to use the Vulcan emoji when you tap the chat button
Check the video down below for more information on the setup.
Secret #3 – The Phantom Fix
This one has flown under the radar: iOS 8.3 fixes the so called "Phantom" flaw. When executed Phantom causes applications to crash immediately when started and even a hard reset executed by: holding the sleep/wake button and home button for around 10 seconds results in the phone hanging:
Phantom was a really tough hack to execute. The users had to be tricked entering a proxy settings into their phone usually from "tech support" websites with malicious content the consequences are still really unpleasant
