McLaren has launched the 625C model in Hong Kong. Named after its 625ps V8 Twin-Turbo engine, the car comes in two variants: the Spider and the Coupe. The estimated price for the Coupe is HK$4 million; while that of the Spider is HK$4.5 million.
Made with the McLaren signature and lightweight carbon-fibre MonoCell, both models are capable of accelerating to 100kmph in 3.1 seconds and a maximum speed of 329kmph for the Spider and 333kmph for the Coupe.
Revised mechanical balances, new dampers and a ProActive chassis-control system improve the suspension of the cars and makes them more functional for day-to-day driving.
At the launch, George Biggs, head of sales and operations Asia-Pacific for McLaren, acknowledged the importance of Hong Kong as a market for supercar manufacturing and explained how the car was built with the city in mind. “This car is perfectly suited to Hong Kong driving conditions, designed to be more accessible and refined [and] developed to suit the designs of inner-city drivers.”
